1001 South African Songs You Must Hear Before You Go Deaf

Cannabis Dagga Happy420 HappyFourTwenty Marijuana News SA Music

If you know that 420 is the number of the American violation code for the use & possession of the cannabis plant, you may get a sweet smell of what Happy Four Twenty are about. However, don’t expect stoner rock from these guys. They have more of an indie dream pop style to them. Bands like Luna and House of Love come to mind when listening to this track.

Fronted by a gravelly voiced Kent O’Shea, the band produced one album, the title track of which is this great laid back pop rock tune that is built around an infectious guitar riff. The song climbed to the top of the South African Rock Digest chart in June 2003 and was voted the 16th best track of that year by the staff of the Digest.
